         Dear
Friends and Colleagues, Sisters and Brothers in the Ethnic Press and
Media, as many of you have complained over the year for being
unable to get exempt from the PST portion of the HST due to the fact
your printers were asking for a written letter from the minister clearly
stating that you are exempted, I took the liberty and attended, on you
behalf, a meeting with the officials of three ministries I n order to
clarify the exemption. As a result of this meeting was the letter signed
by the Hon. Sophia Angelonitis, Ontario cabinet Minister for Revenue,
which I am forwarding to your attention for the proper use.

         Please
print this document and presented to your printer in order to get the
benefits of the exemption. Also make a copy of it and give this copy to
your bookkeeper to be used for filing your tax.

          Thank
        you all, Thomas

         The
Christmas Eve scaffold tragedy in Toronto drew attention again to the
position of foreign workers and new immigrants in Canada.
         Based on statistics Ontario has
a general problem of safety in construction work, but the risks of a
newly arrived foreign worker to get hurt is obviously tangible.

life and met many people who have received arts council grants and it
always seemed so intimidating and inaccessible. As a new Canadian I
wonder if you would even know that they exist, and that sometimes there
are even incentives to encourage diverse representation. I have just
applied for my first grants, please wish me luck, and would like to
share what I have learned. ...
